HISTORY
Is one of the most important streets in Madrid. The name makes reference to the santuary of Atocha, as this street was the way to go there. At first, the street just arrived to the hospital that was founded by Antón Martin . In this place was the Puerta de Atocha and near, the San Sebastián chapel. Nowadays the street goes from the Plaza de la Provincia, near of the Plaza Mayor, to the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, well-known as Plaza de Atocha.

In the mid of XIX century was very popular because of the conection between the city centre and the railway station.
