CALLE DE ISABEL LA CATOLICA

HISTORY:
Do honor to the queen Isabel I de Castilla, better known as la Católica (1451-1504) who was the queen of Castilla from 1474 to 1504, also consort queen of Sicilia from 1469 and Aragón from 1479. Because of her deeply christian faith, the conquest of Granada, the expulsion of the jews and the crusade against the muslims- putting an end to the long Reconquiesta war – Isabel and her husband Fernando are known as Reyes Católicos, a title that was bestowed by Pope Alejandro VI.

This title has been passed on through his descendants, and the last possessing it is the current king Felipe VI. Daughter of Isabel de Portugal and Juan II de Castilla, is considered by some historians as the precursor of human rights due to the treatment given to the inhabitants of the New World.
